Why any of this started
Liz started posting because she was at home with small children and the version of motherhood she kept seeing online did not look anything like the one happening in her house. The floors were not clean. The projects did not work the first time. Nobody was in linen.
So she filmed the actual version. The bit where the paint colour is wrong. The bit where the toddler walks through the shot. The bit where a decorating idea that cost eleven dollars turns out better than one that cost two hundred, and the bit where it does not.
What the content actually is
Three things, mostly. Mom humour, which is the part people send to their sisters. Cheap do it yourself projects, which is the part people save. And seasonal decorating, which is the part that brings people back every autumn.
Underneath all three is the same promise she wrote in her own bio and which is still the most accurate description of the whole account: you'll probably laugh, probably relate, and occasionally learn something.
And the goose
Lucy Goosey is a concrete goose who lives on the porch and gets dressed for every occasion that warrants it, which turns out to be most of them. She was not a strategy. She became the most requested thing on the account anyway, which is a fairly good lesson about what people actually respond to.
Working together
Brands hire her to make video that looks like a real person filmed it at home, because that is precisely what it is. Rates and the current numbers are on the work with me page rather than behind a form, because a marketer deciding on a Thursday afternoon should not have to wait until Friday for a PDF.
She is in Indiana, she reads her own enquiries, and if something is not a fit she will say so on the first email rather than going quiet.
